Music Software Popularity Index - 2008 Q4 |
February 11, 2009 - Digital Music Doctor announces the results of the Music Software Internet Popularity Index for Fourth Quarter 2008. As in all previous releases of this study DigiDesign Pro Tools holds the lead position. During 2008 Q4 three pairs of products swapped positions: Steinberg Cubase moved back into the number two position replacing FL Studio which dropped to third. Adobe Audition moved up one position to edge out Apple Logic for the number five slot. Ableton Live improved its position to ninth place and pushed MOTU Digital Performer down to rank number ten. |

This index is based on quarterly Internet search activity on Google, Yahoo, AOL and MSN. Collectively these 4 search engines represent more than 95 percent of the searches on the Internet. Over 100 search terms are used to construct this index, and 15 music software products are tracked. An annual average of the past four quarters is also included for comparison.
