These Steinberg Cubase tutorials are a complete guide to making music with Cubase. The Quick Start section provides an overview of the editing and mixing functions in Cubase that are common to both midi and audio.
There is an in-depth section for digital audio which covers recording, mixing and mastering audio using Cubase 5. The Loops & Remix section demonstrates time, pitch and loop related tools such as Audio Warp, VariAudio, Beat Designer, and Groove Agent.
There is a comprehensive section on MIDI which explains setting up Cubase to work with Virtual Instruments, Rewire, and hardware MIDI devices as well as recording and editing. The Tools & Techniques section includes tutorials on Surround Sound Mixing and the Score Editor.

Digital Audio Workstation Shootout

We have just released a new version of our DAW Software Shootout which compares seven of the most popular music production software products from DigiDesign, Steinberg, Cakewalk, Ableton, Apple, ImageLine, and MOTU. This release adds Pro Tools 8 to the study. Cubase 4 remains the leader in functionality. However, Pro Tools has replaced FL Studio as the product which provides the most value for the money.
The analysis evaluates 130 different factors on a scale of 0-5 (5 being best) which are combined to arrive at an overall functional rating. The value ratio is the functional rating divided by the representative market price and shows which product provides the best value for the money. The details of the analysis are in the Product Review section of our website.
