Blogs may be ancient by now, but we finally decided to take the plunge. Some bloggers seem to feel compelled to toss off their daily drivel scribble. Not us. We are taking the time and effort to produce blogs in which the commentary is fortified with graphics, audio examples, and video -- more like mini multimedia articles. Other blogs are basically infomercials. You won't find any industry hype in our blogs, just straight talk about what we like and don't like. So what are these blogs all about? There are 3 up so far, so you can see for yourself:

- Rave: Reason Piano Refills - The sonic delights of hypersampled Steinway grands.
- Mixing by Preset - Cubase and GarageBand are doing it. Why aren't you?
- Rant: Sonar AudioSnap - Rube Goldberg design, bungled execution.

Take a look and post a comment to tell what you think. You can find Doc's Music Blog at:

Music Software Top 10

The latest update to our quarterly search engine rankings for pro audio software has just been released. As in all previous releases of this analysis, Digidesign Pro Tools holds a commanding lead and Steinberg Cubase is second. However, significant increases in the quarterly rankings for Image Line FL Studio and Cakewalk Sonar caused these products to move up to the third and fifth positions respectively in annual average. FL Studio now ranks ahead of Adobe Audition and Sonar ahead of Apple GarageBand. Cakewalk Project 5 had the largest quarterly increase moving ahead of Ableton Live to ninth position replacing PG Music Band-in-a-Box in the top ten based on the annual averages. You can see the complete analysis which has now been consolidated with the other product reviews on our new blog page at:
